Back to: Solve Product Usage Problems with a QR Code and Mobile Training
Define What Users Must Learn in Product Onboarding
Choose & Get Your LMS in Use
Start by listing 3–5 learning platforms (LMS) that work well on mobile, support multiple languages, and let you use video & text & images as well as make content as web pages.
Compare their features: and do they have what you need:
- Can you use videos and subtitles?
- Can you make interactive videos and forms?
- Can you integrate them to your systems as email, support ticketing system, CRM etc.?
User the free test periods to test the platform before making your decision and subscribe the service.
Once you’ve picked the best one for your needs, create first a test course to learn how to create courses.
Uniwaves recommends that customers use their existing LMS platform in our projects, or we help analyse the needs and select a suitable LMS for them.
Create product onboarding training Content
Start by building the course page and lessons of your training.

Course Page
This is the training landing page your QR code will open. It should include quick-access buttons to the relevant lessons or list the available training content easy and simple way. Create the page and configure a very short link for it.
Quick-Start Guide
Create a short video (1–5 minutes) that shows visual learners how to start using the product in three simple steps. Use the existing product manual as your source of information.
Write a matching “1-2-3 guide” for reading/writing learners including the steps how to start using the product. Use images to visualise each steps. Try to keep it simple and short.

Web Version of the User Manual
Import the existing user manual into your LMS or content system for reading/writing learners. Add annotated screenshots or simple diagrams to help explain the steps more clearly.

Troubleshooting Guide
List common error messages or problems. For each issue, create a short 15–30 second video, animation or image that shows the solution. Add a simple “1-2-3 guide” for fixing each issue. The troubleshooter is used by all users.

Remember to test all course and lesson pages before publishing them.
Localise for Other Languages
Once your original training content is ready, approved and tested, it’s time to create versions in other languages.
Start by choosing the languages your users need. Managing many versions takes time and costs money. Even though Uniwaves can deliver training in up to 30 languages, most products only need 3–5 languages depending what languages the users understand.
- Export the text from your videos, manuals, and lessons. Use either AI translation tools, video platform tools or professional translators to localise the content.
- Check the translations carefully, especially if you use AI tools. Make sure they are accurate, easy to understand, and consistent with your tone and brand.
- Adapt to local needs. Include region-specific safety warnings, informations required by local regulations, or cultural adjustments if needed.
Good localisation ensures every user can learn quickly in a language they understand.
Generate & Deploy QR Codes
Create an unique QR code for each product version and language. This ensures users get the right training for the exact model and in their preferred language.
You can place the QR code in different ways:
- Print it directly on the product during manufacturing
- Add a sticker with the QR code in the product manual package
- Include it in the printed product manual next to the quick-start or training section
Tip: Make sure the QR code stays visible and is easy to find and scan throughout the product’s use.
You can use existing QR code generating services. You find them by using Google search.

Maintain Versions & Scale
Keep all your training files organised with clear version control. When you launch a new product model or SKU, copy the existing course and update only the parts that have changed — like product images, videos, or specific instructions.
Plan regular checks to update:
- Training videos
- Instructional texts
- Diagrams and images
- Translations in every supported language
This way, your content stays accurate and you can scale easily as your product line grows.
For example, Uniwaves creates and stores training content in a way that each part can be easily reused and modified. This is critical when you have more than a few product versions or products.
Why Use a Professional Training Provider?
- A skilled provider creates training content faster and with higher quality
- It frees your time to focus on more important things
- Efficient reuse of created materials and professional version control of product-specific content saves time and ensures consistency
- You avoid common mistakes in training design and structure that could confuse users
- You gain access to tools and templates that speed up production and localization
- It’s easier to scale your training when your product range or customer base grows
